Emmure - The Complete Guide To Needlework EP

When I first heard Emmure back at a show in Revere with The Acacia Strain, the sound was incredibly heavy, one of the heaviest of the night, and I truly wished that any recordings they had would have that same effect. The Midnight Renewal - The North Main EP

In my explorations of the talented indie rock bands out of the Boston area, I came across a gem. The Midnight Renewal, a five-piece rock band out of Rhode Island, came out with the EP But Could I Erase Her in 2004, and my personal involvement with the band began roughly a year later when I helped booked them for a show with Spitalfield and The Audition. The album was filled with entertaining funk-y indie rock, but it left much more to be anticipated. Two years later, The North Main EP updates us on the current feel and movement of the band. (more…)

Skyview Drive - What If They Knew

Rock and roll with a dash of indie rock and hardcore influence came together to form Skyview Drive, a self-driven experimental rock band from Massachusetts. The two-song EP What If They Knew gives a taste of what the band has to offer with a plethora of diverse influences from Saves The Day and The Get Up Kids to the RX Bandits and GunsLikeGirls while giving plenty of room for the band to grow. The collective ages of the band average out to just sixteen years yet the sound doesn’t lead on to that fact. (more…)

A Loss For Words - These Past Five Years EP

Since I live in New Hampshire, I’ve had my fair share of post-hardcore and metalcore bands come my way with sounds that vary but seem to have that same heavy element with breakdowns in the end. A good, catchy, pop-punk band is really hard to find in these parts, and that is why A Loss For Words caught me so off-guard. (more…)
