Clearing up confusion on what shows I cover

The CONCERT LISTINGS section is, well, a concert listings section! Like PunkDates.com used to be, or any of your favorite venue sites with all their concerts listings. Just an aggregation of all the concerts I know about.

The top of the page has this little image: And it says that if that camera shows up next to a show, I am going to it.

So before you email me about when photos will be up from a show…. Did the show have a camera next to it in the listings? Did I post about the show on my Twitter? Did you see me at the show? If no to all three, then I probably did not go to the show and will not be posting photos of it since I wasn’t there. I’m sorry!

In the process of updating the photo archive

Over the next week or so, I’ll be updating the photo archive to make all the old photos I’ve done accessible to everyone who is viewing the site. Currently I have 2009 and 2008 all done, and about half of 2007. You can view the photos by going to Shows Archive on the top menu bar or going below the Featured Interview on the right sidebar to see the breakdown of photos by year. As I get more up, they will update automatically…. I have to rebuild a lot of these sets through Flickr so it’s going to take some time. I also need to update all the shows to make sure the right bands are tagged for the right shows. Thanks for your patience! I promise once that update is done, you’ll get a nifty search bar on this site to find photos for the bands you want right away!

APRIL FOOLS! FUTURE BREED becomes a VIDEO company

For all those tricked (and yes, there were quite a few people who emailed me, Facebook messaged me, IM’d me, etc in panic that I was changing to video or even supporting it), joke’s on you! I am sticking with photography. Photos coming tonight from Head Automatica at my school. New version of Future Breed coming really soon (promise).

After a long time of weighing the options, I have chosen to move Future Breed from a photography company to a video company.
There is a huge erosion of photographers in Boston (15 at the Have Heart ICC show?!) so instead, I will be focusing my attention at the videography field. There are only a couple video guys in the Boston area who come to shows, and only one of them does it really regularly.
To celebrate this, I will be doing a film soon to document my first 6 years of Future Breed. The documentary will be aptly titled “Back To The Future Breed.”

House of Blues grand opening

I had the opportunity this evening to shoot Re-Up, Kidnapkin, and Sex! at the House of Blues Boston grand opening. What an incredible venue. It is the largest House of Blues in the world supposedly, and I look forward to shooting many shows there.

So where are the photos? Well, House of Blues has an Archive Agreement form for photographers to sign if they are not cleared with the in-house production to shoot for a media outlet. This agreement says I can’t really use my photos for anything. So they are sitting on my desktop, looking pretty. I will be sure in the future to try my hardest to get full Media rights to post these photos on the site, but consider this a warning for any photographer…. Get a hold of House of Blues production staff BEFORE the show, or you will NOT get to use your photos for anything.

Rest in Peace…. Dominic Mallary of Last Lights

For all of you who knew Last Lights, you knew the intensity and passion Dom brought to every show. I saw the band finally last night after hearing so much about them. I was blown away, and I made it a point to say that I would be at their show tomorrow, and any shows after I could make it to. I saw huge potential in that band going places quickly in the Boston scene and beyond.

But earlier today, Dom passed away. Please send out all your prayers to Dom’s family, band members, loved ones, and friends. He was an inspiration for many, and he shall be remembered always.

My photos from last night will remain up for those who want to see their last show documented. It was a bit creepy for me to look through at first, but already people are starting to comment photos as a memorial to Dom. Out of respect for those who have commented and the band, the photos will remain up. RIP Dominic Mallary.

This is a common misconception about Future Breed. There is only ONE photographer for Future Breed, and it’s the same person that does the website, CD reviews, interviews, show listings, myspace, promotions, and everything. Dan Gonyea is the SOLE member of Future Breed and will always be the SOLE member. Sorry to stomp on anyone’s ideas that the site is a group of people, but I do not ever want it to become that, and nobody has been involved in it other than me except one case in 2005.

New design tweaks

If you don’t see a huge red banner at the top of the page, you need to clear your browser’s cache.

Reviews and interviews are going to be integrated into the sidebar soon, and a search function for all that is coming as well! If anyone has any other recommendations for the site, shoot me an email. I’ve been doing a lot of the things you guys have been asking for so speak up!

Also, I have a blog up right now on National Geographic’s website for their documentary Inside: Straight Edge. You can watch that show Sunday at 4 pm EST. There is a clip in the international version that I’m involved in, and I also have some photos of myself and that I’ve taken floating around on flyers for the show and the DVD packaging.
