Street Dogs

Interview with Mike McColgan of Street Dogs in August of 2006.
Once upon a time, Mike McColgan parted with the Boston band Dropkick Murphys to pursue a career with the Boston Fire Department. A few years later, a fire was ignited with a band they later called Street Dogs, and two records later, they are on tour with The Adolescents, preparing for a new album release in October, and touring in support of their new album.

How’s the tour going with The Adolescents?
The tour’s been amazing. It started July 16th in Denver at the BlueBird Theater, and from there, it stretched all the way to the east coast to Boston, which was amazing and sold out, and CGBGs in New York City, which was absolutely amazing. Another Boston punk band The Freeze played [in New York], which was a treat, and they ripped it up. From Boston, the tour stretched back to the midwest, with a crazy show in Chicago. We had an amazing show once we got to Seattle, and Portland was great after that. Now we’re headed over to Bend, OR. The whole tour’s been great, especially to play with such a legendary band. Interview with Christopher Dudley of Underoath in September of 2006.
The end of July brought a lot of turmoil for the Underoath community as the band announced an unexpected drop-off on the Vans Warped Tour. Rumors scathed the online community with thousands of comments on the band’s website alone contemplating the future of Underoath. With the tour schedules fully booked for months, keyboardist Christopher Dudley took some time to update us on what’s been happening since Warped Tour and what to expect from Underoath in the months to come.

What is Underoath currently up to, being that you have upcoming tours in Canada, Australia, Japan, and Europe kicking off soon?
Pretty much we’re just going to be on the road forever. That’s the plan. We’re flying out on Wednesday to start our headlining tour in Canada. Silverstein, Moneen, and He Is Legend will be on that. It’s going to be freakin’ cool. We are going to be playing some places that we haven’t played in a while and weren’t able to play on Warped Tour. It’s going to be rad. We do Taste Of Chaos International with Taking Back Sunday, Anti-Flag, and Thursday. That goes all over, like Japan and Australia. We’re taking the holidays off, and then doing a headlining US tour in February. (more…)

With a new record deal and new album coming out, Think I Care is getting ready to finally break out and get known in the hardcore community.

Thank you guys for joining me today. First off, can you guys introduce yourselves and the roles you play in the band?
Shawn: My name is Shawn, and I play the guitar.
Jason: I’m Jason, and I’m the vocalist.

Can you guys give a brief overview of how the band started?
Shawn: Jason and I started the band like seven years ago. At first he played bass and sang. We got Aaron to play drums and then Joe joined as the vocalist. That line-up didn’t really work out so Jason went to vocals and Joe went to bass. That has been the lineup for all these years. (more…)
